While TOlivia (that’s Olivia, aka Trouble with a capital T), is napping, thought I’d share some thoughts about our experiences in this expansive state. The first thing is that it’s mostly flat with relatively few trees. I mean, there are trees, but not forests or even clumps of wooded areas like at home. Some small undulations in the ground but I wouldn’t even call them hills. Then there are the highways. Four, sometimes more, concrete lanes going BOTH directions for most of the highways here. Road signage is weak leading to missed exits and gps rerouting. Turn signal usage is rare. Even four lane divided highways with a median (2 lanes each direction) will have stop lights and side street access with speed limits of 65 and 70. Their bridges and interchanges where multiple highways converge are a sight to behold and are true engineering feats. i’ll try to get better pics, especially in Dallas. There are billboards everywhere. Most of them are advertising law firms that specialize in injury and accidents. And then there’s the bail bond businesses. They are everywhere! Guess these Texas folks get into a fair amount of trouble now and again. We are here in Arlington another two days when we head for San Antonio Thursday.
