After two weeks in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, we broke camp this morning and headed for San Antonio. Even though we were up at 6:30 by the time breakfast was eaten, laundry was done, and everything disconnected and put away, it wasn’t until 10:00 that we found ourselves on the road again. Isn’t that the name of a song? Anyhow we thought that traffic was fairly light at first, but two hours into it we stopped at a Buck-ee’s for lunch and fuel and OMG I have never seen so many people in one travel center at the same time. This place was HUGE. I am not exagerating when I say they must have had over 100 gas/diesel pumps spread out over two islands. Now I knew why the roads wren’t so crowded; they were all here! Anyhow, we got our fuel, some awesome food for lunch, I had the brisket sandwich they are famous for and Stacy had their chicken and fries. The brisket was ok, but I had one of their Texas cheesesteak subs the other day with peppers and onions and think that was a better sandwich. Stacy said the chicken was some of the best that she has had. So, back on the road. The speed limits here are crazy. The first time I saw 75 I thought wow, that’s kinda fast. but then it became 80! Not us. Not pulling 10,000 pounds. I try to keep it under 70. That’s plenty fast enough for me. The crazy thing is, 80 wasn’t tops. There was a stretch the last 75 miles or so that was 85! So now we’re here and set up. Stacy took the pups for a walk and I perused the area guide for things to do here and don’t think that we are going to be able to do as much as we may like to as we are only here 2 days really, Friday and Saturday. We leave Sunday for Corpus Christi. We will definitely visit the Alamo, and the River Walk for sure. Look for some pics coming up!
