We find ourselves in Sand Spring, OK at the Army Corp of Engineers campground just below the dam on the Arkansas River. IT is an absolutely beautiful spot. Not many people here and wildlife abounds on the river. A shame that we are only here one night before we move on in the morning to get to our destination in Texas! I missed posting last night because after two eight hour days of driving in snow, ice and freezing temperatures all i wanted to do was relax and get some sleep. Which I did! Slept really well on the topper that Stacy added to the stock mattress. Just the right amount of softness to the firmness of the mattress below. Our furnace continued to run all day Tuesday as temps were stubbornly in the teens. It wasn’t until today that we are enjoying anything above freezing. We set out today around 9ish and found ourselves at a Buc-ee ‘s around lunchtime. I will tell you this much. If you have never been to a Buc-ee’s and get the chance, you really owe it to yourself to stop in. They are a world class travel center that caters only to the rank and file and rvs like us. Trucks are not allowed. And yet their facility is huge. Restrooms are immaculate, food is all prepared on site, and even the surrounding grounds with dog walks are well maintained. I will dedin8tely make Buc-ee’s one of my preferred stops! Their diesel fuel was cheaper by far than their competition and their DEF fluid at the pump was also cheaper and actually works! Meaning other places didn’t. Now to the dogs. Marley, at 13, has figured out how to go up the steps into the truck on command. Jack doesn’t need to be told, doesn’t even use the steps and just launches himself into the truck. Rosie. Ah Rosie. The privileged 3 year old Golden Retreiver. Jumping is beneath her dignity apparently. She doesn’t want anything to do with the steps let alone getting into the truck. We have to put her paws up onto the seats and then lift her hind end up until she goes in. But she is adorable so we have to put up with her shenanigans. See the attached pics and stay tuned for more updates!
