Today we travelled to Katy, TX, about 80 miles from the campground in Galveston, and spent the day with Grandson Nathan, his wife Giselle, and their daughter, Emelia. They are planning on moving to a different apartment next week so Stacy and I offered to take 17 month old Emelia off their hands for the day so they could start packing uninterrupted. We started out with lunch at a great local diner called The Black Bear Diner which we learned is actually a chain started some years ago in CA. It is family oriented and focused on friendly service and great home cooked food. If you ever get the chance to eat at a Black Bear Diner I highly recommend it. Of course Emelia didn’t leave without a plush little black Bear with a bow. From there we found a Kids Empire indoor entertainment facility geared toward child entertainment from toddler up to probably elementary age kids, pre teen for sure. But OMG, Emelia was enthralled. As adults, Stacy and I both had to register and sign waivers but our admission was free. One of us had to sponsor Emelia and the cost was $20. For a day pass. She was a little hesitant at first, all this being new to her, but once she watched and observed the other kids it was off to the races! Non stop action in the ball pool room to the slides and other soft climbing apparatus there. There was a room with music and disco lights and there were the carnival type machines that you can try to grab a prize and drop it into the chute. Two people donated their winning prizes to her as she was enthralled with the lights and music. We were there maybe a couple of hours and it was a LOT of fun. We hope to spend some more time with them tomorrow.
